Celebrating standout societies and clubs at Huddersfield Students’ Union
February has been another brilliant month at Huddersfield Students’ Union, with groups delivering creative events, supporting each other, and making a real impact on campus.
From academic innovation to culture and sport, these groups truly stood out this month.
Pharmacy Society have maintained strong communication with the Students' Union throughout February, delivering and planning a variety of engaging events. Their first event under the new committee included pottery and tote bag painting, offering peers a relaxing break ahead of exams.
They have also worked hard on their ‘Get Your Swab Out’ campaign with DKMS, encouraging students to register as Stem Cell donors. Gaining support from academics, the committee organised a treasure hunt around Joseph Priestly, featuring pharmacy-themed questions and prizes.
Pharmacy Society have empowered other students on their course to facilitate their own events, such as hosting a guest speaker for a British Pharmaceutical Students' Association revision session. It’s been inspiring to hear about their plans, not only for this term but also looking ahead to next academic year.
This committee successfully hosted A Night in Kashmir, celebrating the culture, traditions, and heritage of the region. Their events received excellent feedback, with attendees praising the welcoming atmosphere and inclusive approach.
The committee communicates effectively with the SU and engages well with the wider SU community, making them a pleasure to collaborate with.
February has been another incredible month for Astrology and Spirituality Society. They raised over £400 for charity with Freedom for Palestine Society, hosted their first Friday spell jar event, and incorporated employability skills into interactive activities. Their socials continue to foster friendships among members.
Led by a phenomenal committee, Brass Band Society achieved great success at UniBrass this year. Their dedication to fundraising and collaboration with the university and SU has enabled them to perform widely, and plans are underway to bring UniBrass events to Huddersfield soon.
February was a busy month for Netball Club. The first team delivered two massive performances on their way to winning the BUCS Tier, including a thrilling 48–45 away win at Leeds. The highlight of the month was their Netball charity tournament, bringing together over 100 students, 14 activity groups, and numerous sponsors to raise over £300 for Youth Sports Trust.
