Celebrating standout societies and clubs at Huddersfield Students’ Union
Law Society have done incredible work this month through their festive fundraising, running holiday-themed bake sales to raise money for Advocate and LawWorks. They have also supported their members with revision sessions using resources created by the committee themselves. They are a passionate, supportive, and well-organised team — truly deserving of this month's recognition.
HUTTS are bigger and better than ever this year. They meet twice a week for their regular events, have travelled to other universities for collaborations, and have planned an inter-uni competition inviting Yorkshire TableTop societies to campus. Quiet but full of heart, they are led by an amazing committee who work hard to create an inclusive, friendly community. They are truly a joy to work with.
Palestine Society have shown exceptional organisation and dedication this month. Their committee excel at planning impactful events, raising awareness of global issues, and fundraising for humanitarian causes. They are a committed, passionate, and well-coordinated team — fully deserving of this award.
At the beginning of November, the club was close to folding due to lack of leadership and no members. However, Amina, Zahrah, and Adra stepped up and completely transformed the club. After running stalls, rebuilding their online presence, and hosting a social with the Men’s Basketball team, membership has grown rapidly. Training sessions now regularly reach double-digit attendance, and they’ve even completed their first BUCS fixture — with many players competing for the first time. Their dedication and behind-the-scenes work have kept women’s basketball alive at Huddersfield, and they have exciting plans for Term 2.
