Varsity 2026 is almost here! The ultimate showdown between Huddersfield and Bradford University.
It’s more than just a series of matches. It’s a full-on celebration of school spirit, fierce rivalries, and unforgettable moments that bring students, staff, and alumni together. Huddersfield has triumphed in the last three Varsity events, and this year we’re aiming for a fourth consecutive victory. But wins don’t happen on their own. Your energy, cheers, and support make all the difference.
The Atmosphere
Expect Varsity to be buzzing with energy from start to finish. The rivalry is intense, and every match is full of competitive spirit. Beyond the sport, Varsity is a social event. Students from across campus come together to show their Huddersfield pride. Whether you’re a die-hard sports fan or just want to soak up the atmosphere, there’s something for everyone.
Day One – Tuesday 21st April
The excitement kicks off at Bradford Park Avenue with the opening ceremony at 6:00pm. After the ceremony, the Football 1s match at 7:00pm is a must-watch—the atmosphere on the pitch is electric. Meanwhile, at the Unique Sports Hall, badminton competitions get underway: Women’s at 5:30pm and Men’s at 7:45pm. Fast-paced, competitive, and full of skill.
Bring your flags, face paint, and school colours — the more energy the better!
Day Two – Wednesday 22nd April
Day two is jam-packed across multiple venues. It starts early with cricket at Unique Sports Hall at 8:00am. Volleyball matches (women’s at 12:00pm and men’s at 2:30pm) promise high-energy rallies, while archery at 5:00pm tests players’ precision. At Sedgberg, catch Netball 2s at 9:00am, 1s at 11:00am, cheer at 2:00pm, and basketball at 3:00pm. Rugby matches at Bradford Park Avenue are always a highlight, with Men’s 9s at 5:45pm and Women’s Rugby at 8:00pm, followed by the closing ceremony at 10:00pm.
Expert Tips & Attendance
Dress in Huddersfield colours, wear comfortable shoes, and bring snacks and water. Arrive early to grab the best spots. Varsity is more than sport; it’s community, pride, and teamwork. Every cheer drives our teams toward victory. Support your friends, support your classmates, and make memories that last long after the final whistle. Help us keep the streak alive!
