Preventing violence against women and girls is one of the Kirklees Community Safety Partnership key priorities for 2025/6
Partners and communities will be marching together to stand up against violence, celebrate resilience, and reclaim our streets for everyone.
Expect activities, lanterns and community stalls. Whether you’ve marched before or this is your first time, we’d love to see you there.
Building on the success of last year and as part of the Mayor of West Yorkshire's mission to improve the safety of women and girls, we are hosting a second Reclaim the Night event at Greenhead Park in Huddersfield.
As winter nights draw in, and the clocks go back, we want to empower women and girls of Kirklees and the whole of West Yorkshire to Reclaim the Night in public spaces. So, in collaboration with West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Kirklees Domestic Abuse Specialist Services (KDASS) and partners Kirklees Council – Safer Kirklees are hosting an exciting event to “RECLAIM THE NIGHT!”
There will be activities for families to get involved in, including, making placards, craft activities, youth sports activities and access to support services such as legal advice, drugs/alcohol, domestic abuse, housing support.
This is an outdoor event which is open to all – residents, organisations and groups – for a safer West Yorkshire and Kirklees!
Finally, there will be a march round the park, to draw attention to the challenges women and girls face when spending time in public places.
