Music in the University Square

After further discussion within the Big Ideas group, we’ve decided not to take this idea forward. This is mainly due to the low level of student engagement on the proposal, as well as the University’s preference to reserve music in the courtyard area for special occasions such as graduations and other major events.

During event days and the recent graduation ceremonies, the University have been playing music out of the speakers in the University Square. I feel like this should be a common feature and makes the campus feel more upbeat rather than just silence walking from building to building. My Proposed plan of action is to keep the music playing in the University Square during University opening hours.

I agree that there should be music played in the University Square during open hours. However, I don't think that it should be played ALL the time. Perhaps instead, it could be played more around certain times of year and special days (e.g. The leadup to Christmas, etc.) so as to not become too ubiquitous and overbearing
